Small Lantern
Sculpture
17cm / 17cm / H 16cm
materials: PLA
Compact in scale yet rich in character, the Small Lantern evokes the spirit of a miniature sanctuary. Its layered profile draws from the architectural language of tiered temples, culminating in a cantilevered top that anchors the form with quiet strength. The silhouette subtly echoes traditional hanging lanterns and ceremonial objects, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Made from translucent PLA, the lantern glows with a warm, intimate light that animates its structured surfaces. The grid detailing refracts light in rhythmic patterns, creating a mesmerizing visual texture. Ideal as a poetic accent or meditative companion, the Small Lantern is a quiet ode to ritual, light, and modular beauty.
The short floor light is part of four in the titled collection. It draws upon the rich tapestry of Chinese mythology, specifically the celestial realm known as the Heavenly Palace (天宫) — a divine citadel presided over by the Jade Emperor, ruler of the heavens.
The series reimagines this mythic landscape through four illuminated objects, each envisioned as a sacred bastion suspended in the sky.
